Brooke Turner Photography bio picture

Hi! Thanks for visiting!  In this blog I'll show you my latest photography adventures, but also give you a glimpse of the person behind the camera.

About the photography-    My style is pretty classic, with a bit of flair.  Definitely not traditional, but timeless.  I love capturing the emotion behind the memory. I incorporate elements of photojournalism, and also take inspiration from fashion photography.  Scroll down and take a peek at my work, and watch some slideshows to see more.   I take on a limited number of weddings each year, and am currently booking for 2010.  Based in Columbia, SC, but available state, nation, and world-wide. I love to travel! :)

About the photographer-  I'm a wedding photographer, a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend.  I love authentic conversations about God and life....add Starbucks and I'm just giddy :) My husband and I met in a most unusual way, and we love to laugh together.   I love to walk the streets of foreign countries, but also to snuggle under a blanket at home with a good book. I love to write but I'm not that good at it.  I love the red shoes I'm wearing in the picture to the left. If you ever see me wearing them, you know I'm feeling cute that day.  :) I could spend hours in a bookstore.  I love music and when you can just feel a song in your soul.  I'm a dreamer, and a bit idealistic...I believe that even one life can change the world. I pray every day that mine does.  Most of all I love my Jesus, my Redeemer, and the deep meaning and purpose He has brought to my life!

Enjoy!

Julie & Tom: July 3, 2010

On Saturday, July 3 while we were settling into life as a family of 4, two of my dear photographer friends were photographing a wedding for me.   You see, when Julie booked me to photograph her July 3 wedding, I was not pregnant and was so excited to work with them!   In October when we found out the big news, I immediately knew that I would be unable to photograph the wedding, considering we were expecting twins, and my due date was July 26.  Thankfully, I have a strong network of excellent photographers and called Brantley Freeman of All Dressed Up Photography and Kathy Powell of Moore Photographing and (after Julie agreed), they agreed to take over the wedding photography for me.  What could have been a scary situation for any bride I believe turned out beautifully - not only did she have ONE professional photographer to document her big day, but instead had TWO!  Kathy & Brantley did SUCH a great job!

Be sure to go check out Brantley’s blog to see some of the images!

Click here for the slideshow! ALL IMAGES COURTESY OF ALL DRESSED UP PHOTOGRAPHY AND MOORE PHOTOGRAPHING.  I can’t take credit for any of them (although they are so good, I wish I could!)

Things are going well with our new family of four!  Thanks for all of the cards, emails and phone calls to check on us. It’s been quite an adjustment but worth every minute. We are so in love!

Baby Shower!

I had four FABULOUS baby showers hosted by some dear family and friends!  I feel so incredibly blessed to have such a supportive circle around me to celebrate with us!  These are all pictures from the first baby shower hosted by my best friends (including my sister, who I’m proud to call a best friend also!)

my growing belly

Long time no blog!!

As I’m sure you can expect, the past few weeks have been filled with much anticipation, excitement and pure JOY as we prepare for the birth of our twins!  Today I am 34 weeks pregnant which is a big milestone for a twin pregnancy!  I’ve been trying to document my growing belly and it was easiest for me just to take a quick picture with my iphone.   .

As far as my business is concerned, I’m officially out of maternity leave (from shooting) and will work on computer work till I deliver.   I will be back to work mid-September.

My delivery date is currently set for July 1!  Less than 3 weeks before we meet our sweet Samuel and Selah!  Of course anything can happen so I’m trying not to get too set on the date July 1 :)

I have had four WONDERFUL showers thrown by some very dear friends and family.  We are ALL set, I do believe!  Over the next couple of weeks I’m planning to post some pictures of my nursery, shower pictures, and finally baby pictures when the babies finally get here!

For now, here are a sampling of those iphone belly shots

Lindsay & Ryan: May 15, 2010

Saturday was my LAST wedding to photograph pre-babies! I took a whole TEAM up to Laurens to photograph Lindsay and Ryan’s wedding because I knew I’d need the extra help!  Paula did an excellent job second shooting (as always!), Amanda was a superb third shooter/water-fetcher/bag carrier, and my sweet husband Justin drove me from point A to point B (so I wouldn’t have to walk too far!).  I am so thankful!! Everything went SO smoothly on Saturday!  I photographed Lindsay’s sister, Ashley’s wedding in Laurens about 14 months ago, and it was so great to reconnect with this fun family!!   Lindsay and Ryan are on a cruise right now, doesn’t that sound glorious!!

Here are some of my favorites, and CLICK HERE to view the slideshow!

And for a quick update!

This week (week of May 17) is my last week shooting, as it is getting harder and harder for me to get around! Carrying all that gear at 30 weeks pregnant with twins is not easy, and the health of my babies is priority #1 right now; trying to keep them in as long as possible!  I will still be working in the office on album design and wrapping up some loose ends until Samuel and Selah make their arrival.  Recently I have had an influx of  wedding album orders so I’m trying to get as many done before they arrive (only 6 more weeks!).   I will resume scheduling portrait sessions in September.  If you are interested in booking a fall portrait session, go ahead and email me. My September calendar is already filling up since I’m taking 12 weeks off for maternity leave.  Also, my openings will be more limited as I will have two sweet babies to be a mother to :)

Heather & Alan: May 2, 2010

Heather and Alan were married on May 2 at the Jasmine House in Irmo.  We had such a good time capturing their wedding!  Here are some of my favorites!

And of course, the SLIDESHOW!
