2 Bridal Portraits

1 Maternity Portrait

1 Engagement Portrait

This is an especially busy week for me!

Oh, and my wedding year is almost over! I've shot 23 weddings so far this year, and I'll be finishing the
year strong with Melissa & Jonathan's wedding on December 20 and Beth & Trevor's on Dec 27. I can't wait!

Kelly’s Bridal Portrait

I shot Kelly & Derek's wedding on Saturday!  Images and slideshow to come, but for now here is Kelly's portrait. We had so much fun shooting this! :)

I just couldn’t resist!!

This video has been circulating around the internet - it is worth watching!!

Check out the senior adult choir at our own First Baptist church of Columbia…they can get down! My favorite is around 3:13 - “don’t you wish your girlfriend was FUN like me”

Hilarious!!

Long time…..

I have so much to blog about, including Jo Ashley & Ryght's wedding on Saturday.  I am so far behind and my to-do list seems a mile long and gets longer every day.  It is hard for me to focus on anything except my dear friend Katherine.  Katherine was one of my best friends in college and I love this girl so much.  She lost her husband Chris unexpectedly last Friday.  I drove to Georgia yesterday to attend the funeral and spend the afternoon with her.   It's so so sad.

Until my next post, which I promise will be happier…here is a picture of Katherine and Chris less than two weeks ago at another friend's wedding:

Helen & Lee

It happens all the time with me….  I work with a bride and just love her! You know, when you meet someone and just KNOW you're supposed to be friends with that person?  I am so blessed to work with the sweetest gals, and so often I'm so sad when the wedding is over, because that means my work with them is over :(  Well I'm glad that my friendship with Helen has continued even after her wedding - now I truly consider her a client-turned-FRIEND! :)    I wasn't able to photograph her wedding, but shot Helen's bridal portraits back in February.    When she told me that she wanted to be 'bride' ONE more time, get all dressed up and do some fun portraits downtown, I was so pumped!

Here are a few from our session last night.

What a FUN night!

Last night was one of the best nights I've had in a long time!  Wedding Planner Melanie Murphy, of By Invitation Only  hosted "Unveiling the Best", a black tie event for some of the top wedding vendors in Columbia.  The event was held downtown at 701 Whaley, which is going to be an amazing space for receptions and other events once it is completed (almost there!).

My husband didn't exactly seem thrilled at the idea of networking with other wedding professionals, so I left him at home and went with my sweet friends & fellow photographers Kathy Powell of Moore Photography and Brantley Freeman of All Dressed Up Photography.  We had such a good time hanging out, and maybe a little networking thrown in too.

Afterwards our husbands met up with us at Saki Tumi which of course was awesome!   Some people think its odd that three "competitors" can be such great friends (since we are all Columbia photographers) but they have truly been such blessings in my life and it is so fun to have friends that understand whats its like being a wedding photographer.  Plus we can back each other up and share ideas/challenge each other, which just makes us all better photographers!

Here are some shots from the night:

Email and Website Down all day!

…and I didn't even realize it until just now!  My sweet photographer friend Brantley just called me because I wasn't responding to her emails, and she knew that wasn't like me!   I checked it out and yes, in fact my website is down, which means my email is down too.

I just thought it was a slow email day…..

So, PLEASE re-SEND ANY EMAILS YOU SENT TODAY TO BROOKETURNERPHOTOGRAPHY@YAHOO.COM

Everything should be up and running by tomorrow I hope!

Friday Brain Dump!

Hooray for another edition of Friday Brain Dump!

*Please forgive me for the lack of frequent updates lately!  I have been catching my breath and getting ready for my CRAZY fall wedding season.    Believe me, I'll make up for it during the months of Oct & Nov!  Starting this weekend I'll be shooting 7 weddings in 10 weekends, plus I"m IN a wedding too!  I've also got a ton of family portrait sessions booked too!

*Last weekend was FABULOUS! It was one of my rare weekends off.  I do love weekends when I have a wedding, because I do have such a fun job of capturing those special moments at weddings, but I must admit working most weekends makes me appreciate so much those weekends that I have off like a 'normal' person.  I slept in Saturday morning, met a friend for coffee at Starbucks, ran some errands with Justin, ate at Chickfila for lunch, grilled out for dinner while watching reruns of The Office.  What could be better?

*Is the weather today great or what? I've got all the windows in the house open and I'm just loving it!!

*I'll close with a picture of my husband and I in the mountains last October.  I figured this picture was fitting since Autumn begins on MONDAY! :)  I love the Fall!      Also, this was the weekend after my last official day in corporate America.  I just have to tell you that I am still amazed and thankful everyday at how the Lord has blessed my business and continues to pour out His blessings on me and our family.

Have a great weekend, and be on the lookout for pics from Jen & Russ's Aiken wedding next week!

I love you all!

Bayne & Brook’s wedding post & slideshow…coming soon!

Friday Brain Dump!

Happy Friday everyone!

I'm leaving in about 15 minutes to head down to Savannah to shoot Bayne & Brook's wedding.  This marks the first time I'm photographing a wedding where the groom has my name.  Should make for some confusion at the wedding, but people will probably just resort to calling me 'photographer'.    Oh, and what a blessing for us…it looks like Hanna is going to hit much more north than anticipated, so we'll be wet, but at least we won't blow away!

I am so excited!  I got invited to be a part of a new photography blog founded by Juliet of Juliet Elizabeth Photography.   The blog is called "Through God's Lens", and here is the purpose below, copied from the website:

""Through God's lens" was created by Christian photographers to share inspirational stories, images, scripture and thoughts on life, love and God's creation. Our sincere hope is that you will be encouraged and lifted up by faith!"

We are hoping to expand this group, and schedule some get togethers too!  I'm so honored to be invited and hope my words and my heart might encourage someone.  Go over and check it out!    I've already been blessed by my fellow photographers words!  And for any photographers out there, if you'd like to join us and become a contributor, let me know!  The more the merrier! :)
