Last night was one of the best nights I've had in a long time! Wedding Planner Melanie Murphy, of By Invitation Only hosted "Unveiling the Best", a black tie event for some of the top wedding vendors in Columbia. The event was held downtown at 701 Whaley, which is going to be an amazing space for receptions and other events once it is completed (almost there!).
My husband didn't exactly seem thrilled at the idea of networking with other wedding professionals, so I left him at home and went with my sweet friends & fellow photographers Kathy Powell of
Moore Photography and Brantley Freeman of
All Dressed Up Photography. We had such a good time hanging out, and maybe a little networking thrown in too.
Afterwards our husbands met up with us at Saki Tumi which of course was awesome! Some people think its odd that three "competitors" can be such great friends (since we are all Columbia photographers) but they have truly been such blessings in my life and it is so fun to have friends that understand whats its like being a wedding photographer. Plus we can back each other up and share ideas/challenge each other, which just makes us all better photographers!
Here are some shots from the night:

Last September I photographed
Amanda & Brent's wedding reception in Lexington. They had gotten married in July in the Domincan Republic and then had an amazing reception back home a couple months later. I was SO thrilled when I heard from Amanda that they had gotten pregnant and welcomed baby Reece into the world. He is just 8 days old in these pictures! Amanda's got to be the most 'on the ball' momma ever….she emailed me the day she got home from the hospital! Here are a few from our session
Earlier this week, I photographed the sweetest family! Here are a few from our session:

…and I didn't even realize it until just now! My sweet photographer friend Brantley just called me because I wasn't responding to her emails, and she knew that wasn't like me! I checked it out and yes, in fact my website is down, which means my email is down too.
I just thought it was a slow email day…..
So, PLEASE re-SEND ANY EMAILS YOU SENT TODAY TO BROOKETURNERPHOTOGRAPHY@YAHOO.COM
Everything should be up and running by tomorrow I hope!

Saturday I stepped outside and was greeted by the most beautiful sunshine and nice breeze. The weather was absolutely perfect for a wedding!
Jennifer & Russ were married in Aiken on Saturday, and had such a fun day planned out for their friends and family. I must say, Jen is one of the most detail oriented brides I have ever seen!! She truly thought of everything! Their Catholic ceremony was at 1pm, and the reception at Houndslake Country Club wasn't until 5 PM, so in between they opened up their new home! How sweet! Here are a few from the day…
(Slideshow to be posted most likely tomorrow)

One of the cutest ring bearers ever!

Mr. and Mrs. Hughes!
After the ceremony and formal portraits, we went to downtown Aiken for some more pictures of the couple
Home sweet home!
The couple had a complete choreographed dance - SO impressive!
Father Daughter dance
the last dance - the DJ had a bubble machine! made for some fun dancing shots!
Hooray for another edition of Friday Brain Dump!
*Please forgive me for the lack of frequent updates lately! I have been catching my breath and getting ready for my CRAZY fall wedding season. Believe me, I'll make up for it during the months of Oct & Nov! Starting this weekend I'll be shooting 7 weddings in 10 weekends, plus I"m IN a wedding too! I've also got a ton of family portrait sessions booked too!
*Last weekend was FABULOUS! It was one of my rare weekends off. I do love weekends when I have a wedding, because I do have such a fun job of capturing those special moments at weddings, but I must admit working most weekends makes me appreciate so much those weekends that I have off like a 'normal' person. I slept in Saturday morning, met a friend for coffee at Starbucks, ran some errands with Justin, ate at Chickfila for lunch, grilled out for dinner while watching reruns of The Office. What could be better?
*Is the weather today great or what? I've got all the windows in the house open and I'm just loving it!!
*I'll close with a picture of my husband and I in the mountains last October. I figured this picture was fitting since Autumn begins on MONDAY! :) I love the Fall! Also, this was the weekend after my last official day in corporate America. I just have to tell you that I am still amazed and thankful everyday at how the Lord has blessed my business and continues to pour out His blessings on me and our family.
Have a great weekend, and be on the lookout for pics from Jen & Russ's Aiken wedding next week!
I love you all!

I was so excited when Bayne contacted me and inquired about photographing her wedding in Savannah. I was so thrilled to shoot in this beautiful city! Bayne & Brook's wedding definitely did not disappoint….the day was gorgeous and could not have been any more perfect. Even Tropical Storm Hanna, which threatened to disturb the day, didn't hit land as far south as anticipated. Saturday was beautiful!
It was SUCH a blessing being a part of their wedding day. Bayne is a Zeta sister of mine from Clemson, so it's been so good to reconnect with her, and to meet Brook too! Oh yeah, and if you see any bridesmaids that resemble me, my sister was in the wedding
Here are a few images from the day.

Happy Friday everyone!
I'm leaving in about 15 minutes to head down to Savannah to shoot Bayne & Brook's wedding. This marks the first time I'm photographing a wedding where the groom has my name. Should make for some confusion at the wedding, but people will probably just resort to calling me 'photographer'. Oh, and what a blessing for us…it looks like Hanna is going to hit much more north than anticipated, so we'll be wet, but at least we won't blow away!
Here's on of their engagement pics

I am so excited! I got invited to be a part of a new photography blog founded by Juliet of Juliet Elizabeth Photography. The blog is called "Through God's Lens", and here is the purpose below, copied from the website:
""Through God's lens" was created by Christian photographers to share inspirational stories, images, scripture and thoughts on life, love and God's creation. Our sincere hope is that you will be encouraged and lifted up by faith!"
We are hoping to expand this group, and schedule some get togethers too! I'm so honored to be invited and hope my words and my heart might encourage someone. Go over and check it out! I've already been blessed by my fellow photographers words! And for any photographers out there, if you'd like to join us and become a contributor, let me know! The more the merrier!
