Amanda & Jimmy: Engagements

Wednesday I met Amanda and Jimmy downtown for their engagement portraits.  It was BLAZING hot outside - definitely in the upper 90's.  They were troopers though!  We started out at the Gervais St bridge (popular spot lately!).  Amanda and Jimmy have been dating for 7 years, since they were 15. That is so cool.  I'm sure they'll be very ready to get married by November, when i'll be shooting their wedding as well.  Enjoy the sneak peek!

Stephens Family

Good morning sweet friends!   Now that I have re-introduced some of my baby/kid portrait work to the blog I'm going to be posting some of my recent sessions as fillers  in between the wedding related work….just to switch it up a bit :)

Travis and LaToya used to be our neighbors in Harborside and now they have a precious daughter named Kinley! She's just a little over 6 months old and really one of the happiest babies I have ever encountered.  As soon as LaToya emailed me and told me her name, I fell in love with the name Kinley - and when i met this little cutie I fell in love with her even more.  She pretty much smiles all the time!  We shot right here in Lake Carolina! :)  Enjoy these and expect more sessions over the next couple of weeks…

Brooke, do you still photograph babies and children?

This is a common question I've been getting lately - I think because I haven't mentioned this side of my business on the blog in quite some time.  This blog lately has been focused on all of the fabulous weddings/engagements/bridals that I've been photographing.  Over the past 6 months or so, I really haven't focused too much on taking on any new non-wedding portrait clients, simply because I haven't had time to get out there and shoot any more, much less edit the images I shoot.  I've even had to turn some people away (gasp!) because I'd been feeling so stretched and didn't want to give anyone any less than 100% of me.

Well, as of this week I have an office assistant that will be helping me with lots of the detailed tasks that consume a lot of my time.  I will be introducing her to your shortly but that is a whole new blog post by itself-she is that fabulous that she needs her own blog post of introduction!  Y'all are going to just love her! I've been so blessed to have her here with me this week in training. Having a human companion here has been great! (I say human companion because Izzy is always here keeping me company: either on my lap, at my feet, or sometimes on the desk as my previous post showed!).

SO - having this wonderful mystery lady (who you'll be meeting shortly) work with me will enable me to actually get out there and shoot more instead of stuck behind this stinkin' desk!  I'll will be taking on a limited number of new portrait clients this year.  I will be scheduling TWO sessions a week (weekdays only) during the months of June, first half of July, August, September, and first half of October.  The second half of October and November will be dedicated to serving my beautiful fall brides, of which I have a lot of!  And a quick note about Christmas Card pictures (I know I know, its blazing hot outside, who wants to think about Christmas!)… these pictures must be taken by second week of October.  No exceptions will be made, I'm so sorry!  Just call or email soon to get on my calendar since I'm only taking 2 sessions a week.

I apologize for being so long-winded!  Since we're talking about portraits, here are a few from a recent session of an 11 day old blessing named Samuel.

Beth & Trevor…a few more

As I mentioned in my last post, Friday night I met Beth and Trevor at Wofford to take their engagement pictures.  We had so much fun as they showed me around the campus and we just acted silly.  I'm so pumped for their December wedding.   Here's a good "newspaper shot" as I like to call it.  I always try to get a a good number of these more traditional shots in every session too..

These two are so in love!

This below is an especially sweet image because Beth used to always pass by this bench when she attended Wofford and daydream about sitting on it with her future husband.  That time is finally here!  The carving on it is from one of Shakespeare's sonnets  "Let not the marriage of true minds…."
