Ceremony: First Baptist Church, Columbia - Boyce Chapel
Reception: Lexington Municipal Complex
Saturday was the perfect day for a wedding! Marie and Verne couldn’t have had more beautiful weather for their big day. Marie and Verne have been doing the long distance thing for a while - Marie just graduated from medical school here at MUSC while Verne was finishing his Masters in Boston. They finally get to live in the same city again! :) It was such a joy to capture their wedding and meet their sweet families. Now for some pics!
We started out at Carmen & Carmen, then on to get Marie’s makeup done - and then to First Baptist where the girls got ready.
Gorgeous Marie - so excited!
Marie’s mom getting her veil just right
Here comes the bride!
The happy couple - finally married!
First dance - I love this shot…it has that old Hollywood elegance look to me
The dip at the end of the first dance
A fun table they had set up at the reception with the sign "For Kids at Heart of All Ages"
Leaving under the bubbles
Marie and Verne - have a good honeymoon in Hawaii!
The slideshow is coming soon !
Happy Memorial Day! I hope y’all are enjoying the day off!
I have been having some email issues since yesterday afternoon. It appears there is a problem with the server, but of course I have not had resolution with the hosting company due to the holiday. So if you’ve sent me an email since yesterday afternoon to brooke@brooketurnerphotography.com, unfortunately I did not receive it. I’m sure they will all come through when I finally get reconnected, but if it is something urgent, please either call me or email me at brooketurnerphotography@yahoo.com. I apologize for any inconveniences!
I’ve been working on the slideshow from Marie and Verne’s wedding - here’s just one to tide you over.
Sunday afternoon I had the pleasure of photographing Michelle and Brent’s engagement session. They are getting married in Rock Hill in November. It was fun getting to know them…Brent owns a Scuba diving store in Gastonia named "Sink or Swim Scuba". If you’re interested in getting certified - check them out! My husband and I have considered it - it sounds like fun. Brent may have sold me on it yesterday. Here are a few of my faves:
We started at Riverfront park-
Here they are in shirts with the store logo.
Then we went down to the Vista to get some contemporary city shots.
One more in the Vista.
Hello! Happy Memorial Day Eve!
This has been a pretty busy weekend for me…Saturday I photographed Marie and Verne’s wedding at First Baptist in Columbia, and then today I had Michelle and Brent’s engagement portraits. I’m still working on Marie’s sneak peek and slideshow, but in the meantime here are a couple of her bridal portraits that we took at the USC Horseshoe:

Ceremony: St. Luke’s Chapel
Reception: Historic Rice Mill Building
Maggie and John’s wedding was so much fun that Amanda and I are still recovering! (specifically from dodging all the guests on the dance floor while trying to capture all the fun - the dancing was non-stop!)
The day started out on Sullivan’s Island at a beach house that the family rented. The girls got ready there, and then we headed to the Chapel, where Maggie and John met up before the ceremony:
This is John with Maggie walking down to see her groom.
Then, on to some relaxed portraits:
Maggie and her girls, in their beautiful Watters dresses.
Exchanging vows
This ring bearer, Jack, was cracking me up the whole night. I think in a few years he may be my competition (if you can’t tell, he’s got a camera in his hand, which he didn’t let go of the whole day!). So cute!
Here’s Jack a little later - hard at work. I love how he’s got the strap around his neck…makes him look so professional
After the ceremony, we headed just a few blocks away to the Historic Rice Mill Building, which is located at the Charleston Marina. A gorgeous venue with awesome exposed brick throughout, and a cool porch out back with a view that was to die for.
We snuck away around sunset to capture some sweet images by the marina.
Maggie having a blast at the reception - catching up with old friends from Wake Forest.
Then came dancing! Maggie and John’s first dance.
This guy above, and his other 2 band members kept the party going! I’ve GOT to find out the name of this band from Maggie. They are now in the lead for my favorite wedding band. They played the perfect mix of Mo-town, shag, and oldies.
And finally - a sparkler exit!
Maggie and John - have a blast in Italy!
Keep checking back for the slideshow

Ceremony - St. James Lutheran Church
Reception - Aiken Electric Cooperative Building
Saturday, Amanda (my assistant) and I made the short drive to Aiken to photograph Erin and Brandon’s wedding. You may remember my post from Erin’s Bridal Portraits at Hopeland Gardens, when I got lost on the way home from Aiken after the portrait session. Well, I wasn’t even nervous about getting lost around this time, because I finally got myself a GPS for the car. That GPS has already been worth every penny. Not only do I not have to bother with Mapquest anymore, but finding the nearest Starbucks in only a few clicks away!
Back to the wedding - here are some favorites!
Erin’s colors for her wedding were Red and Black - pure Gamecock. This bridesmaid had to offset the red by painting tiger paws on her ankle…a girl after my own heart!
Another wedding with an adorable flower girl.
A ceremony shot - I love the exposed beams in the ceiling.

The slideshow is coming right up! :)
This post is a couple of days late, but May 7 marked my two year wedding anniversary!
Here’s my favorite picture from our big day. I have such good memories of my wedding. I truly can’t think of one thing I would have changed! The ceremony was at Spring Valley Baptist Church, and the Reception was at the Columbia Museum of Art.
My husband is my rock. I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband. We have such a unique story of how we met - if you’re curious, ask me sometime! I love to tell people about it. :) It was truly God that orchestrated our relationship. Justin is the most likeable person I know, and he’s so easy going that it offsets my sometimes OCD ways. He’s been so supportive of me and my dream of becoming a photographer while I still work full time.
Here’s a more current pic of us - before we went to celebrate at Ristorante Divino Monday night.
