Yesterday, I photographed baby Matthew. He is such a smiley baby and has the cutest dimples!! Their house was a photographer’s dream - tons of windows for the natural light to shine through. Here are a couple of sneak peek images from our session:
With Daddy - Isn’t Matthew’s expression cute?
With Mommy -

A couple of weeks ago I photographed adorable Sara Hunter’s baptism at Washington Street United Methodist church. Here are a couple of my favorites of the sweet baby….
I’ve had so many of my clients ask about Easter pictures. So here you go! Keep checking back for more info on these Easter mini-sessions that I will be offering. There will be limited availability at these sessions (one in Irmo, one in Lake Carolina). Please email me at brooke@brooketurnerphotography.com with your interest to secure a spot. Details to come!
While I was working today, I stumbled across this collage I put together for a family I photographed last fall. They ordered a 10×10 of this - it turned out really cute I thought!
‘Tis the season for bridal portraits!
Last Sunday afternoon, 2/11, I photographed Crystal’s (one of my March brides) bridal portraits at the State House here in Columbia. Funny story - she and her mom were running a little behind schedule, so we were losing light pretty quickly once they arrived. I totally understood though because everything having to do with weddings seems to take longer than you think!
Once they got there, I was working as quickly as I could to maximize the remaining daylight. As I was positioning her towards the end of the session, I noticed a GORGEOUS sunset peeking through the trees. SCORE!!! I totally used that sunset to our advantage, and it worked out perfectly that they were late. Had they been right on time we probably would have been finished before the sunset even made an appearance. It’s so funny how things work out just right sometimes! So now, instead of just gorgeous bridal portraits at the State House, we got phenomenal ones with a pink and orange sky!
Yesterday I had another bridal portrait, but this one was in Moncks Corner. I just realized the other day when I went to mapquest directions that I had been spelling that town’s name wrong my whole life. I never knew there was a ‘C’ in it! Silly me! ;) Anyway, I had the pleasure of photographing Brianna’s bridal portraits at the Santee Canal Park. That place is such a hidden treasure! SO picturesque. Her sweet mom was there, and her crazy aunt, who was a HOOT! I just LOVE getting to know the families of the people I work with. Each and every person is such a blessing to me!!
I just LOVE taking bridal portraits!!! The only thing I don’t like is that I can’t post any sneak peek images on my blog afterwards because we can’t have anyone getting a preview of the bride-to-be in the dress!!
I know this post was a bit random, just wanted to let you know what I’ve been up to!
PS - I know a ton of y’all are anxiously awaiting the trash the dress pictures….still workin on them in between editing for all of these sessions I’ve had lately.
PPS - I am working on something really exciting with my awesome and sweet friend, Amy - so keep checking back for some news on that!
Here’s another from the "Trash the Dress" sessions that took place this past weekend in Savannah. This image in particular was at the beach on Tybee Island. For those of you who are wondering what trashing your dress means, just scroll down
Still more to come from Savannah, along with some sneak peek images from adorable Sara Hunter’s baptism that I photographed this past Sunday

Blessings come in all shapes and sizes. Today my blessing came in the form of an email.
Here’s some background - over the past week or so, I’ve been feeling a bit overwhelmed with how busy my life has gotten. I so much love everything I’m doing right now, I’m just not used to not having any time to myself, or getting so little sleep.
As most of you faithful blog readers know, I work as a financial analyst full time (my analytical side) and do photography nights/weekends (my creative side). One of my New Years Resolutions was to make my quiet time with God more consistent, and the ONLY way for me to do this is to do it in the mornings. For years I’ve tried to do it after work, and somehow it never happens! Plus I’ve found that quiet time and prayer in the morning just gets my day off on the right note. I have to be at work by 7am, so with the 30 minute commute, I’ve been getting up at 4:45am to get everything in. So along with my ever growing to-do list, it seems I’m just exhausted a lot of the time!
This gets me back to the email from Michelle. Michelle is one of my November brides, and she said:
"I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you for your blog. I am totally addicted!
After viewing Lauren’s and Keith’s slideshow I am even more convinced that you will be perfect for our wedding; we are so blessed to be working with you."
It’s so awesome that God knows just what we need. I really needed that email today to remind me of why I love this so much. It is so worth being busy and tired sometimes. Thanks Michelle, and to the rest of my clients, family, and friends. Y’all really don’t know sometimes how much your words lift me up!
This past Friday and Saturday I spent in Savannah with about 10 other photographers from the Southeast, trying our hand at a ‘trash the dress’ bridal session. When I tell people about this, at first they look at me weird. "Why would anyone want to trash their wedding dress, those things are expensive!" Well, exactly for that reason. Who wants to spend all that money on a gorgeous wedding dress, to wear it once and then retire it forever in the back of your closet. Why not take the opportunity to take some really fun and edgy photographs with your gorgeous wedding dress?
These sessions usually take place after the wedding, so if the dress gets a little dirty (or totally trashed) it’s ok! The session can be as extreme as you wish. We started out pretty tame in the woods on Friday, getting our models to lie down on logs, in the grass, and then made our way almost into the swamp. Saturday was a little ‘trashier’ and our model got completely in the ocean. We got some really good stuff!
I’m nowhere near finished editing my images from the sessions, but check back in the next few days for some of my favorites from our fun sessions!
For now, here’s a sneak peek - one of my more tame ones at Wormslow Plantation:
Make sure you come back for more of my favorites!

Here’s one more from Lauren and Keith’s wedding this past weekend. I couldn’t help but post this one - I just love the vivid colors.

This afternoon I went to Sumter to photograph Casey and Jason’s engagement session. We did the session at the Iris Gardens, which was really nice! Jason was such a good sport, taking these photos while all the pre-game Super Bowl stuff was going on. :) They’re getting married in April, and I’m looking forward to it!
