This past Saturday, I photographed Elizabeth and Noah’s engagement session. It was two days before Chrismas, and almost 70 degrees outside! Elizabeth and Noah live in Kansas City, where the weather has been quite a bit colder, so I think they were enjoying the South Carolina weather.
It was such a pleasure meeting these two. I’m looking forward to their wedding in March.
Here are a couple from their session:
Aren’t they cute!
Merry Christmas! I realize this post is a day late, but Justin and I have just returned home from our whirlwind tour of the state (otherwise known as visiting family for Christmas). My parents do not have high speed internet, so I can’t post on my blog there (I mean technically I could, with their dial up…but I’m really impatient and something about that modem connection noise gets me out of the Christmas spirit)
I hope your Christmas was as blessed as mine.

Yesterday afternoon I had the pleasure of photographing Hayne and Melissa. Their mom, Barb, is the aunt of a sorority sister of mine from Clemson named Stacy. I’m also photographing Stacy’s wedding next June which I am very excited about! Hayne is a senior in High School, and Melissa is a senior at USC (in California!). Pretty cool, huh?
We went down to the State House, which was decorated beautifully for Christmas. Here are a couple of my favorites. There are so many cute ones, it was hard to choose!
I like this one below, because you can see their church (Trinity Episcopal) almost glowing in the background. I love the color of that church!

I think Melissa enjoyed being taller than Hayne for once
I love photographing siblings that get along as well as these two do. Thanks for being so cooperative, Melissa and Hayne!

I am SO excited about what 2007 will bring for Brooke Turner Photography!
One new area of photography that I am going to start in 2007 is High School Senior Portraits. You know how it typically works…sometime in the Fall of your last year of high school you go to a studio and get the typical head-shot with the black drape for your yearbook picture. Sometimes people choose to take props like varsity jackets, etc. Well that is NOT what I’m going for with my senior photography! Actually, it is the complete opposite!
My senior portraits will be more like a fashion or model shoot. YOU get to choose the clothes you wear, get photographed in fun and unique locations, and we’ll go out and just have fun! The end results will truly allow your personality to shine through the photographs.
I am currently looking for high school juniors (those who will be seniors next Fall) who are interested in being ‘models’ for portfolio shots. ‘What’s in it for me?’ you may be wondering- No session fee and 25% off of any prints you or your parents choose to purchase. Ideally I would like 3-4 people, a mixture of guys and gals, and from a variety of high schools. If you’re interested, please email me at brooke@brooketurnerphotography.com and attach a snapshot of you (or for the parents reading this - your highschooler). My locations are going to be primarily urban (think downtown), so I’m planning to choose those who are a bit on the fashion forward/trendy side.
Sessions will take place in early 2007.
Only 10 days till Christmas!!

Sorry for the lack of blog updates lately. It’s been a little crazy around the Turner household because among all the normal Holiday craziness, Justin and I have both been busy rehearsing for the Carolina Christmas Celebration, which is going on this coming weekend at our church. I’m in the choir and we’re both ballroom dancing in one scene. It has been so much fun! But it has made for a busy Christmas season, as we have had rehearsals several times a week.
This past weekend, Justin, my sister, and her fiance and I had planned to go down to Kiawah with some friends for the Kiawah Half Marathon. Justin and my sister had been training to run it, and Jon and I were going to cheer them on. I ran the half marathon last year and I think one time was enough for me! Well, as luck would have it, both he and my sister got sick last week and couldn’t imagine racing 13.1 miles in the 20 degree weather while fighting off a cold.
Also, I’ve made some progress in my new office. I’ve selected paint colors, and made plans to go to Atlanta to purchase furniture. I used to live in ATL, so I love any excuse to make the trip down there. We’ve decided to go down December 31 (the day after my sister’s wedding) and spend New Years Eve in Buckhead, and get some shopping in while we’re at it. I’m pumped because I’m already tasting the yummy food I’m sure we’ll eat. The only problem is trying to decide which of my favorite restaurants to visit.
Only 14 days till Christmas!
Do you notice anything different here? Brooke Turner Photography has gotten a facelift! I’m using a new logo and new colors which I feel represent the direction my business is going much better than my old one.
There’s a lot in the works here at Brooke Turner Photography…..I’m getting an assistant, starting to offer new products, and of course moving into my new gallery/office space in Shandon. 2006 has been such an exciting year, and 2007 promises to be even more eventful as my business continues to grow. I just want to take this opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to all of my awesome clients. You all have made 2006 such a great year!

As I mentioned in my last post, this past weekend I was down in Savannah with a bunch of girls to celebrate my sister’s upcoming wedding. We had such a good time! Here’s a quick snapshot of her and me before we hit the town Saturday night. Of course we made her wear a gag veil. It only stayed on for about 20 minutes though once we left the condo
And here’s the group of the bridesmaids Friday night on a ghost tour.
My sis has the sweetest bunch of friends. What a fun weekend!!
I always get asked "are you the photographer for her wedding"? Of course not
I’m the matron of honor, and there’s no way I could focus on the photography as I’m celebrating my little sister’s big day. I did, however, do all of her bridal portraits, which I’ll be posting after the wedding. I have a suspicion her fiance would see them if I posted them here beforehand.
I actually decided that I’m not going to take my professional camera to the wedding at all. I don’t want to be tempted to switch into ‘photographer mode’ and miss some of these precious moments.
Oh, and by the way - only three weeks till Christmas!!
